  1. Recent incidentBlaze sweeps through Bitterne gardens21/05/2018A large fire in the open has destroyed sheds, fences and scrub. The blaze broke out at 12:33 in Hillside Avenue, Bitterne Park, and caused a huge smoke plume. Three engines from St Mary's and Hightown attended with a specialist vehicle from Eastleigh. Four jets, two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus were used. The stop message was at 14:46.
  2. Recent incidentTwo men in hospital after severe van fire13/05/2018Two men were taken to hospital with severe burns following a van fire in Hamble. The vehicle was reported on fire on Westfield Common just before 7.15pm. Crews from Hamble, Hightown and St Mary’s used breathing apparatus and hoses to extinguish the flames. The two men, believed to be in their 20s, were taken to hospital by road and air ambulance. The van was severely damaged by the fire and one car also damaged by the heat of the flames. Recent incidentCats rescued and 11 people led to safety in Bitterne flat fire29/04/2018Several cats were saved and 11 people led to safety after fire broke out in a ground-floor flat in Bitterne. The people living in the four-storey block were led to safety by crews after smoke had filled the stairwell. The resident of the affected flat, a 71-year-old woman, was taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation but was not seriously injured.   4. Recent incidentWoman suffers burn after plastic left on cooker28/04/2018A 63-year-old woman was treated for a burn to her hand after plastic was left on top of a cooker hob. Two crews from Eastleigh attended the 999 call reporting a fire in the kitchen of the North Baddesley flat. The fire was already out by the time the crews had arrived but they provided first aid for the woman’s burn and thankfully she did not need hospital treatment.
  5. Historical incidentMan treated following Chandler's Ford flat fire23/04/2018A man was treated for smoke inhalation after fire broke out on the first floor of a block of flats in Chandler's Ford. The man escaped the building on Bodycoats Road before firefighters arrived and was thankfully he was not seriously injured. The fire started in the lounge of a flat on the first floor and crews from Eastleigh, Service Headquarters and St Mary's used hose reels and jets to extinguish the flames.   6. Historical incidentSnake called Anna Cornder captured in Portsmouth loft20/04/2018An escaped 5ft corn snake has been captured by an HFRS animal rescue expert. The pet reptile is 11 years old and was trapped in a fascia board in a house in Alver Road, Fratton, Portsmouth. It was released from this by HFRS and captured in the roof space. The snake was unharmed, checked by the RSPCA and then retuned to its owner. The stop message was at 17:04.
  7. Historical incidentLarge horse rescued from Alresford well20/04/2018Firefighters were called out to rescue an Irish Draught gelding from a well. Crews from Alresford, Overton and Winchester attended the incident in which the large male horse had got its hind legs trapped. Crews used small tools, animal rescue equipment and a Manitou telehandler. The horse was 20 years old and measured 16.3 hands (1.65 metres). The incident was at Riverside Farm Lane, Tichborne, Alresford. The stop message was at 09:04
