Station Plan 2016 - 2017
Why is a new station being built at Basingstoke?
Basingstoke is one of Hampshire’s most important strategic stations due to its excellent north-south and east-west road links. The number of specialist vehicles based at Basingstoke is set to increase to a total of 10, making it the Service’s largest station in terms of vehicles at a single site. The current station was built in the 1960s but the building and has served the Service well. However, annual upkeep costs can run into thousands of pounds and the current stations lacks the facilities required by a modern fire service.
You can keep up with the progress of the build and more questions answered on our Basingstoke New Build page.
