Firefighters Tackle Blaze at Derelict Cygnet Hotel in Sandown
We received reports of smoke issuing from the derelict Cygnet Hotel in Sandown at approximately 7:45pm on Tuesday 12 May.
Four fire engines from Sandown, Ryde, Ventnor, and Newport were mobilised and arrived at the scene shortly thereafter. An aerial ladder platform was also deployed to assist firefighting operations.
Firefighters have deployed jets and hose reels to bring the fire under control and prevent further spread. The blaze was fully extinguished, and a stop message was issued shortly after 9pm.
Police have been informed as the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
