A Party in the Park event is being held to raise money for three charities close to the heart of those at Fordingbridge Fire Station.
The event is called A Night for Daniel in memory of Daniel West who died of a rare form of cancer in November last year aged nine.
Money raised will be split three ways between charities Clic Sargent and Lucy’s Days Out and The Fire Fighters Charity.
The children cancer charities were nominated by mum Kayte and dad Mark, who has been a firefighter with Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service for 35 years.
Member of 1st Fordingbridge Scout Group, Daniel had been diagnosed with the condition in August 2014 and was later presented with the prestigious Cornwall medal for Meritorious Conduct.
He also received a letter from the organisation’s patron Bear Grylls in recognition of his courage.
The event will be held at Fordingbridge Riverside Park on Saturday, July 2, and will start at 3pm and go on until 11.30pm.
There will be six bands – including both serving and ex-firefighters – and a fire engine on display.
Members of the public are invited to bring picnics to enjoy alongside the River Avon although there will also be a licensed bar and hot food available.
Tickets for the event are £10 and can be bought from venues around the town or online. Camping is also available.
Fordingbridge Fire Station Watch Manager Pete White said:
"We are sure it will be a great day out for all the family and we hope everyone turns out to support these extremelyworthwhile charities.”
Last year’s Party in the Park event raised more than £5,000 for the neurology department at Southampton General Hospital.
