Firefighters rescue man from Southampton house blaze
Description of Incident
Firefighters have rescued a man, aged 64, from a house fire in Thornhill.
Four crews from Hightown and St Mary's attended the blaze in Shelley Road at 01.38 this morning.
An aerial ladder platform was also in attendance as well as a command support vehicle from Eastleigh.
The two-storey building was severely damaged in the fire that started on the ground floor.
Firefighters used six sets of breathing apparatus, a hose reel, two main jets and tactical ventilation.
The man rescued suffered from smoke inhalation and was treated by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS).
