Vehicles destroyed in large Curdridge greenhouse fire

Vehicles and machinery have been badly damaged following a large fire at a commercial greenhouse in Curdridge. We received a 999 call reporting a fire at the growing centre on Wangfield Lane. The first crews on the scene found the 80m-long greenhouse well alight and a number of large vehicles also on fire. More than 20 firefighters from Botley, Hightown, Bishops Waltham and St Mary’s used breathing apparatus and jets to tackle the flames. The stop message came in at 7.30am. Around a quarter of the greenhouse, used to house machinery, was damaged by the fire. One HGV was completely destroyed, with half of another also badly damaged. 10 other smaller vehicles also suffered damage from the fire and smoke. The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
