Trapped male rescued from house fire, following survival advice from control

Rushmoor crews were called to a house fire on Sidlaws Road in Farnborough in the early hours of this morning (04 February), after the resident reported the fire to our control room.Control operators provided fire safety survival advice to the male occupant from the first call until the crews arrived at the scene and successfully rescued him.The casualty suffered from smoke inhalation and was given immediate emergency care by crews before being taken onto hospital by ambulance. The fire was on the first-floor landing of the two-storey, end of terrace property and was tackled with four sets of breathing apparatus and two jets. The stop was at 04:50.Smoke alarms provide valuable early warning of a fire, allowing families to get out, stay out and call 999. We ask that residents of Hampshire ensure they have a pre-planned escape route as well as working smoke alarms which are tested regularly. For more information on fire safety in your home please visit https://www.hantsfire.gov.uk/keeping-safe/.
