Thatch Fire – Nutley

We have dealt with a large thatched roof fire in the Nutley area of the county. The call was received by Control at 0902 this morning. Approximately 80 fire fighting personnel dealt with the fire and we received the Stop message at 1447. The fire involved a two storey dwelling of traditional construction with a thatched roof, ten metres by fifteen metres. 75% of the roof was damaged by fire with 25% of the roof removed by the attending crews. 100% of the first floor was damaged by fire, smoke and water and 100% of the ground floor was damaged by smoke and water. Salvage work was undertaken. Two jets, two hosereels, two Compressed Air Foam System jets and eight breathing apparatus were used . Appliances attended from Basingstoke, Winchester, Alton, Tadley, Fleet, Andover, Redbridge and Overton with other support crews from Alresford, Southsea, Wickham, Whitchurch, Eastleigh and Romsey and Portchester.
