Southampton crews tackle fire in car workshop
Crews from Redbridge, St Mary’s, Hightown, Eastleigh and Romsey attended a car fire which had spread to a building of eight commercial units on First Avenue in Southampton. The call came in at 02:33 this morning with five appliances and a number of other support vehicles including the aerial ladder platform at the scene.The unit suffered severe damage by the fire and smoke with the neighbouring units affected by water damage.14 sets of breathing apparatus, two jets and two hose reels were used to extinguish the blaze.Crews liaised with the Environment Agency and Southern Water throughout, with the Police due to attend the scene to investigate the cause. The stop message came through at 06:56 with crews returning to their stations shortly after.
