Sixty-acre field fire tackled by firefighters
More than 30 firefighters were called to a 60-acre field of standing crops and stubble alight near Winchester.Appliances from Winchester, Eastleigh and Service Headquarters were called at 13:11 with further Land Rovers and other support vehicles coming from Alresford, Basingstoke, Fareham, Andover and Lyndhurst.The Hampshire Fire Control Room received more than 80 calls to the incident on Chapel Lane in Easton, with the smoke plume visible from the M3 motorway.Crews dampened down and checked for any further hot spots before handing the incident back over to the owner.The stop message came in at 15:07.
