Shirley Road fire tackled by Southampton crews

Multiple crews from Hightown, St Mary’s and Eastleigh fire stations were called to a shed fire to the rear of a commercial property on Shirley Road in Southampton yesterday (18/12/17).Flames and smoke were issuing from the building when crews arrived, with Fire Control receiving several calls to the incident.A Fire Investigation Officer was alerted to the fire, and the Police were called to attend for traffic management.The stop message came in at 16:24 after firefighters had extinguished the blaze using four sets of breathing apparatus, three main jets, one hose reel and tactical ventilation for smoke clearance. Crews returned to reinspect the property at 19:00 to check for any further hot spots.
