Residential fire – Overton
A smoke alarm saved the lives of two elderly people this morning after it alerted them and their care provider to a fire in their home.Two crews from Overton and Whitchurch were called out at 03:43 this morning (Tuesday 05 July) after a call stating an automatic fire alarm was going off at the property on Harveys Field, Overton.On arrival crews found a small fire involving electrical equipment in the bedroom of a first-floor flat which they tackled with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one jet.The two elderly residents of the property were out of the flat before HFRS arrived and were given oxygen by crews to counteract the effects of smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital by the South Central Ambulance Service.The stop message was received at 05:23.
