Residential fire – Gosport

Four crews from Gosport, Cosham and Fareham attended a fire in Forton Road, Gosport.The fire was in a storage area on the ground floor.Firefighters led 11 people to safety including three young children.Residents were aged from under a year old to 33.Four sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reels and two jets were used and the three-storey building was heavily smoke-logged.Some residents were treated for smoke inhalation by South Central Ambulance Service at the scene. Nobody was taken to hospital.The premises was a former pub that had been converted into a building of multi-occupancy. The stop message came in at 03.59. A joint investigation is underway.
