Coastguard, firefighters and paramedics called to mud rescue in St Helens

Fire Crews from Ryde and Newport worked alongside other emergency service partners after a man was stuck waist-deep in the mud, near to Nodes Point in St Helens.

Crews used mud paths to reach the casualty who was passed into the care of paramedics.

Fire crews have now issued a warning to people to be cautious when walking in muddy areas, as it can be often deeper than it looks.

The warning comes after two separate mud rescue incidents last weekend on the Isle of Wight.
