More than 50 firefighters tackle farmhouse blaze in Rotherwick

More than 50 firefighters and support crew have attended a blaze at a farmhouse in Rotherwick. The three storey building in Frog Lane was a detached domestic dwelling. The fire took hold of 75% of the roof space and second floor. Crews used 13 sets of breathing apparatus, 5 jets, 3 hose reel jets and positive pressure ventilation, to tackle the fire. No animals were involved in the incident. Firefighters attended from Odiham, Hartley Wintney, Basingstoke, Fleet, Overton and Tadley with support from Royal Berkshire crews. Crews have been praised for bringing the fire under control in tough conditions, with snow on the ground, icy road access and extremely cold weather.The cause of the fire is still to be investigated.
