Island firefighters called to boat fire during Cowes Week

Crews from Ryde and East Cowes fire stations were alerted to smoke coming from a boat in Cowes at around 3pm this afternoon.

The boat was alongside the shore on The Parade during Cowes Week.

There was a strong smell of electrical burning and upon investigation firefighters discovered that the fire was out on arrival.

The crews used ventilation fans to clear the smoke before they returned to station shortly after 4pm.
