Island crews tackle converted barn blaze in Seaview

Firefighters from across the Isle of Wight tackled a roof fire at a converted barn on Oakhill Road in Seaview on Friday afternoon.

Crews from Ryde, Newport, Sandown and Cowes were called shortly after 2pm along with Freshwater’s water carrier.

The fire which originated in the garage of the property spread to the roof, with firefighters tackling the blaze with hose reel jets and the aerial ladder. 

Approximately half the two-storey property was damaged in the blaze.

Once the fire was extinguished the incident was scaled down with remaining crews involved in damping down the scene before they returned to station.
