Island crews called to barn blaze in Shorwell
Firefighters from across the Island were called to a large barn fire at a farm in Shorwell.
Crews from Newport, Shanklin, Sandown and Ryde were alerted shortly after 3pm this afternoon, along with specialist vehicles from East Cowes and Freshwater.
The fire involving farming machinery was surrounded by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, tackling the blaze using jets and hose reels.
One casualty suffering with smoke inhalation was treated by paramedics before being taken onto hospital.
Once the fire was extinguished the stop message came in shortly before 5pm.
Two crews remained to extinguish remaining hotspots.
