House fire – Southampton
Ten people and a dog were rescued from a house fire in Southampton this morning (Thursday 23 March).Crews from Redbridge, St Marys and Hightown fire stations were called to St Mary Street, Southampton after reports of a fire in the stairwell of a flat above a shop. They tackled the blaze with two jets and a hose reel, also using using four sets of breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventilation fans.The ten people rescued were all handed over to the care of the ambulance service where they were assessed at the scene and did not need to be taken to hospital.The stop message was put back at 06:36 and a fire investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
