Gosport house fire spreads to neighbouring homes

We were alerted to a house fire in Gazelle Close, Gosport just after 15:00. Crews from Gosport, Fareham, Cosham and the aerial ladder platform from Southsea attended, making this a six pump job with 24 firefighters and supporting officers. The fire was in a terrace block in the properties conservatory kitchen, where the fire unfortunately spread to the neighbours first floor and roof. In total damage has been caused to three properties. No one was injured during the incident, but a 60 year old male has been taken to hospital by South Central Ambulance Service with smoke inhalation, his condition is not life threatening. Crews used 10 breathing apparatus, three hose reel, two jets and the aerial ladder platform to tackle the blaze. The initial crew on scene have been praised for their swift actions, as this incident demonstrated an usual spread of fire, in a roof space. Without their swift actions this fire could have damaged further properties. The cause of the fire is still to be investigated.
