Gas related fire – Farnborough

Three pumps from Rushmoor have attended a fire linked to the gas main in Reading Road. Crews were alerted when a neighbour called to state fire was coming out of a hole in the road, where there are current road works. The crews worked closely with Rushmoor Borough Council, Hampshire Police and the Gas Board to evacuate residents, prevent the fire from spreading and to isolate the gas.Around 48 people have been relocated by crews to St Mark?s Village Hall and are now in the care of Rushmoor Borough Council. The stop came in at 08:47.Reading Road has been closed by the police and we do ask that people avoid the area until further updates from the police.
