Firefighters tackle large Denmead workshop fire
More than 50 firefighters have attended a blaze at a workshop in Denmead.The single-storey building in Sheepwash Lane, which was used for car repair and furniture restoration, has been destroyed by the fire.Crews used foam and two hose reels jets to tackle the flames.Two men suffered minor burns to their hands and wrists. They were treated by firefighters at the scene before being handed over to the care of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS).Firefighters attended from Cosham, Waterlooville, Southsea, Portchester, Havant, Horndean, Eastleigh HQ, Romsey, Eastleigh, Fareham, Rushmoor and Droxford.At the fire’s peak there were eight engines, an aerial ladder platform and support vehicles.Hampshire Constabulary also attended.The cause is believed to be accidental after a work-related accident.The stop message was 22:19.
