Firefighters tackle large construction site fire in Hythe
A construction site in Hythe has been badly damaged following a large fire. At its height, more than 30 firefighters fought the blaze off Fawley Road. The flames engulfed one block of four semi-detached homes and one block of three, all of which were being newly built. No-one was hurt in the incident and firefighters will remain on the scene for most of the morning (7 January) damping down and dealing with hot spots. A fire investigation will be launched to determine how the blaze began once crews are off the scene.Crews from Hythe, Totton, Beaulieu, Hardley, Redbridge, St Mary?s, Eastleigh and Lymington dealt with the incident, using breathing apparatus, jets and the aerial ladder platform to tackle the flames.
