Fire – Havant

We recieved a 999 call from an elderly lady who could hear her smoke alarm activating and could smell smoke in her property.Our Control room operator told the 75-year-old woman to go back into her bedroom, close the door and cover the bottom of the door with a pillow. Crews from Havant arrived and discovered a fire in the downstairs kitchen. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire and rescue the woman from her upstairs bedroom. The fire appears to have started in the dishwasher and the woman was checked over by ambulance crews but only suffered minor smoke inhalation. The stop message came back at 01.20.
