Fire at Marchwood waste centre

About 30 firefighters were called to a waste transfer centre in Marchwood this morning.The fire, in Bury Road, was contained to a concrete bay and involved a large amount of bulky domestic waste.Crews, from Redbridge, St Mary’s, Beaulieu and Eastleigh, used three water jets and foam to tackle the blaze before damping down.Three engines attended the incident with support vehicles including an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP), a water carrier and a command unit.The stop message was at 11:55.
