Domestic fire – Southampton
Five pumps (two from Hightown, two from St Marys and one from Eastleigh), an aerial ladder platform and support vehicles attended a significant fire on Mortimer Road in Southampton this morning.On arrival crews found a large fire in the roof space of two terraced properties, with smoke and flames venting through the roof. Crews used ten sets of breathing apparatus, two jets, two hose reels, one compressed air foam system (CAFS) jet and one aerial ladder platform monitor to tackle the blaze.The roof of one building was completely damaged by fire, with 50% damage to the first floor of the building by heat and smoke. The second property suffered 10% damage to the roof by fire.One male casualty was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment for smoke inhalation. The stop message was received at 10:59.
