Control operators provide life saving advice during Portsmouth blaze
Control room operators provided fire survival guidance before firefighters arrived to help residents escape a fire in Portsmouth. Hampshire Fire Control received a call at 3.20am reporting a ground floor fire in a building consisting of flats on Fountain Street. Crews from Southsea, Cosham and Portchester were mobilised to the incident as the call handler supplied fire survival advice over the phone to the residents. The fire involving bins in a stairwell of the three-storey building was extinguished using four sets of breathing apparatus, one jet, two hose reels and tactical ventilation fans. Casualties were assessed at the scene by SCAS but weren?t taken to hospital, before the stop message came in at 4:27am.
