Commercial fire – Shirley

A severe fire broke out at a property in Shirley High Street this evening. The terraced building is a commercial premises with residential accommodation above.Firefighters from Redbridge, St Mary’s, Eastleigh, Hightown, Romsey, Botley, Portchester and HQ attended with eight engines and support vehicles. Ultra-High Pressure Lances (UHPL), ventilation techniques, an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP), 16 sets of breathing apparatus, three hose reels and five jets were used to battle the first-floor blaze.Nobody was injured in the fire. An investigation will take place to ascertain the cause of the fire. The stop message was at 00.22. Both floors of the building were severely damaged by fire and smoke.
