Chemical spill on A3 cleaned up by crews
The northbound carriageway of the A3 was closed yesterday as crews dealt with a chemical leak coming from a lorry between Liphook and Petersfield.Petersfield, Winchester, Cosham, Liphook and Surrey were all in attendance to deal with the container which was leaking a class 8 marine pollutant.Four sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and multiple absorbent mats were used. A spill kit was required to contain the liquid which was mainly on the trailer with a drain cover placed over the nearest drain for environmental protection.The incident was handed over to a specialist unit on arrival to conduct cleaning procedures. The stop message came in at 01:13 on Friday morning. Both lanes have since reopened on the northbound A3.
