Blaze takes hold of historic Minley Manor water tower

Firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a historic water tower in Blackwater.Neighbours alerted us to the fire just after 10:30pm last night (22 October), which crews from Yateley, Hartley Wintney, Rushmoor, Basingstoke, Rushmoor, Fleet, Bordon and Camberley responded to. The disused 25 metre high water tower, is in the grounds of Minley Manor. At 3:50 the fire was extinguished, but crews remained at the scene due to concerns over the buildings stability. The stop message was at 5:11 with crews remaining at the scene to reinspect in daylight and the area is cordoned off for safety.Fire Investigators will attend the scene this morning.
