Further Guidance on web browser accessibilities functions

We have provided links to the most popular browsers and operating systems and the accessibility features they have built in. We will continually monitor our website analytics to make sure we are aware of the most popular software used to access our site and plan developments accordingly.

How accessible this website is

Parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:

  • some pages and document attachments are not clearly written
  • some tables do not have row headers
  • some pages have poor colour contrast
  • some images do not have good alternative text
  • many documents are in PDF format and some of those are not in an accessible format due to their age.

What are we doing to improve our site

We are currently in the process of building a new website which also adheres to the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines. This site is nearing completion and expected to change over in conjunction with our Combined Fire Authority date of the 1st April.

Whilst building the new website, we are using the opportunity to review, and where possible, update the older PDF documents so that they are accessible if they are required on our site. To further improve our content in the future, we will run compliance checks on our site as a whole throughout the year and fix any errors highlighted. Should we come across any issues that will require a longer period than 3 days to fix, we will highlight them on this page with an estimated resolution date.

How to request content in an accessible format

If you need any of our website content in a different format contact us and tell us:

  • the web address (URL) of the content
  • your name and email address
  • the format you need, for example, audio CD, braille, BSL or large print, accessible PDF

Reporting accessibility problems with this website

If you find any problems that are not listed on this page please contact us so that we can investigate the issue and fix when necessary.

Disproportionate burden

We fully acknowledge the limitations of our current website and the system that runs it. We have planned to redesign the site and improve the content management system to manage it. The work has been aligned with our fire authority combination so that content and brand are aligned at the same time without incurring additional costs and duplicating the work in a short period of time.
