What were you doing before you started with the Prince’s Trust team programme?
“Before I started the programme, I was spending most of my time at home. I was attending college but due to high levels of anxiety and panic attacks, I was mostly taking part in virtual college classes.
Before I joined the course, things had gotten so bad that I didn’t think I would be able to leave the house on my own, but since taking part, my confidence and self-esteem have grown massively.”
What made you want to undertake the team programme and how did you hear about it?
“My mum met Claire Smith (Isle of Wight Prince’s Trust Team Leader) when Claire was out in the community promoting the programme.
When I heard more about the programme, I thought it might help with my anxiety, so I applied and I’m so glad I did.”
What did you want to gain from undertaking the team programme?
“I wanted to meet new people, learn new skills and build my confidence back up after dealing with anxiety and other health concerns.”
Have you enjoyed the Programme overall?
“I’ve definitely enjoyed it! The Prince’s Trust Team Programme has been one of the best experiences of my life.”
Have you enjoyed any specific parts of the Team Programme?
“I found learning about fire safety really interesting. Making friends was a nice part too. The highlight for me was my two-week work placement at a Primary School as it’s my dream to become a Primary School Teacher.”
Have you learnt new skills?
“I’ve learnt so many news skills, and I learnt so much during my placement that it gave me the confidence to apply to University and follow my dream!”
What does the next chapter look like for you?
“I’ve applied for and been accepted to Winchester University, and I start my new course ‘Childcare in Education’ in September. It’s really exciting and I can’t wait!”
What would you say to a friend who was thinking about joining the programme?
“The Prince’s Trust Team Programme has truly changed my life for the better and I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, I’ve already suggested it to a friend.”
