Former Deputy Chief Fire Officer Alan House started here as a Retained Firefighter and has much knowledge of the history of firefighting in Brockenhurst. He has published a book on Firefighting in Brockenhurst called 'A Village Served'.

Recent incidentEarly morning wake up call for family without working smoke alarms19/08/2019Crews from Fareham and Eastleigh were called to Westminster Gardens in Fareham in the early hours of Monday morning to a fire in the ground floor of a house. The fire appeared to have been started by a mobile phone charger. The smoke alarms were not working as they had no batteries and the families only way to escape would have been through the fire. Recent incidentChiquita the miniature horse rescued by firefighters from a concrete drain15/08/2019Crews from Cosham, Winchester, Brockenhurst, Gosport, and the Eastleigh USAR Team were called to Purbrook Heath Road in Waterlooville when a miniature horse was found trapped in a 1.5m concrete drain. The horse measured 9.2 hands and weighed approximately 250kg. Equine vets and animal rescue experts also came to the scene to assist.   3. Recent incidentFirefighters remove two-foot snake from Aldershot woman's home09/08/2019Crews were called to Heron Wood Road in Aldershot after a woman found a two-foot snake in a larder. The species was found to be a grass snake and was removed by Animal Rescue Advisor Paul Rance, who is based at Lyndhurst, and the RSPCA. This was carried out using snake sticks and a pillow case. Recent incidentA terrace of four thatched properties involved in Sutton Scotney blaze05/08/2019Multiple crews from across the county were called to a terrace of four thatched cottages with the roof well alight, on Stockbridge Road in Sutton Scotney. On arrival crews found there was very heavy smoke coming from the roof. Firefighters engaged in a salvage operation as well as fighting the fire in the two-storey building. The 70 metre by 30 metre warehouse on the Barton Industrial Estate in Upper Wield, near Alresford, saw fire appliances attend from Alton, Winchester, Basingstoke, Eastleigh, Petersfield, Service Headquarters and Rushmoor.
