Emergency only service

The Emergency SMS service was started by Hampshire Constabulary to give people easy access to all the emergency services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

It is a text service for people with speech and hearing problems who cannot use a voice telephone to alert the emergency services by texting one number from their mobile phone.

In an emergency situation, contact the Emergency Services by

entering details about the emergency in a new text message
(for example 'house fire at 15 High Street, Somewhere, Anytown')
and which service you require
(Police, Fire and Rescue, Ambulance or Coast Guard)
send the message to 80999

It is important that you continue to try other ways to contact Emergency Services until you receive the reply from the police.

The message is received by the police control room, who immediately pass the information on the other Emergency Services, and confirm that they have received the message.
