Your Safety at Home
...staying safe in the home & garden
In most homes today you will find an array of electrical equipment such as televisions, hi-fis and computers.
If these items are not designed to be left switched on, always switch them off and unplug them last thing at night.
Do not overload electrical sockets and ensure that all plugs are fitted with the correctly rated fuse.
When buying electrical garden (or DIY) tools, look
for the kite mark.
Check cables and flexes regularly for frays and
kinks.
Check plugs to make sure they are firmly wired and
not damaged.
Replace damaged flex or plugs.
Use a residual current device (RCD) or power breaker
on all appliances.
Fully unwind extension leads before use.
