Who should attend? This workshop is for existing competent hot cutters.

PPE requirement: PPE as provided by the individual’s fire and rescue service or through the new dimension urban search and rescue programme or suitable PPE to an equivalent standard.

This event is a masterclass covering advanced hot cutting techniques using both Petrogen and Clucas equipment and hot cutting tool maintenance. Due to the nature of the day delegate numbers will be strictly limited to 24 per day.

The workshop will be presented by Barry Holder of Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and Ray Cousins from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, both of whom were heavily involved in the initial hot cutting training courses for urban search and rescue (USAR) personnel.

The day will include demonstrations of techniques for cutting underwater, for cutting through heavy metal plate and felling RSJs when under load. It will also include demonstrations of servicing and maintenance regimes to keep equipment working effectively.

Pat Barter, an experienced demolition expert who was involved in the development of the initial USAR hot cutting courses, will also be presenting.

John Wilcox from Safequip will be attending the event to assist Barry, Ray and Pat and to demonstrate recent equipment innovations in hot cutting equipment and PPE.
