The Service
Specialist Response Week

Who should attend? This is a workshop based day with a practical element so those attending should have an operational role within confined space situations although managers of such operational activities may also benefit.
PPE requirement: Those attending should provide PPE that provides head, foot and hand protection and is suitable for operating within a confined space environment.
Please note that this event has now taken place
There is well defined legislation which must be taken into account when dealing with confined space incidents and fire and rescue services along with other responders must be aware of these rules when deciding their policy and procedures.
This confined space workshop will seek to identify possible solutions, trial some of the available equipment, promote training competencies and discuss best practice with input from a number of interested agencies.
Bob Daunton from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will open the day with a presentation of the legislative arrangements and how these may be addressed. Bob specialises in confined space operations for the HSE.
There will be demonstrations of airline equipment and procedures as one possible solution to dealing with confined space incidents and input from potential training suppliers as to other acceptable methods.
Ged Richmond who has been involved in the urban search and rescue (USAR) confined space training delivery and now represents the National Resilience Assurance Team, will give an update of the procedural changes being adopted to simplify confined space working.
We are also hoping to have input from the USAR confined space technical lead and Mines Rescue although these are still to be confirmed.
