Specialist response week

CBRN operations

Tuesday 29 September 2009

Holiday Inn, Eastleigh

Who should attend? This activity is aimed at practitioners with the potential to operate within a CBRN hot zone and managers within operational roles who may be responsible for policy for such operations.

PPE requirement: The opportunity may exist for practitioners to trial examples of potential PPE solutions so should provide suitable under clothing to allow them to do this.

Please note that this event has now taken place

This day intends to look beyond the mass decontamination role of a CBRN incident to the core activities and rescue capabilities that may need to take place within a potential hot zone. It also seeks to identify the support and advice that can be provided to fire and rescue service personnel from the various agencies and industries that specialise in CBRN operations.

Work is ongoing at a national level to trial, test and identify PPE which affords the protection levels required whilst allowing practical tasks and operations to be carried out effectively and we will be inviting representatives of the group carrying out this work to attend the event.

There will be representation also from manufacturers of specialist CBRN PPE to discuss the current state of the technology.

We are hoping to have representation from the Police CBRN Centre in Righton-on-Dunsmore and are approaching the Health Protection Agency with a view to learning from the experiences of the Alexander Litvinenko poisoning.
