The Service
Specialist Response Week

Who should attend? This is mainly aimed at practitioners who may be required to carry out an animal rescue role but managers of such personnel may benefit.
PPE requirement: To be advised.
Animal rescue is a subject that many fire and rescue services have had involvement in, yet it is an area where a large degree of specialist knowledge of both animals and rescue techniques is required if incidents are to be dealt with safely.
Please note that this event has now taken place
Professor Josh Slater of the Royal Veterinary College and Senior Vice President of the British Equine Veterinary Association will be holding a seminar in the morning describing the use of chemical restraint techniques as effective control measures at animal rescues.
He will also explain the role of the Vet at incidents and give an overview of how the Veterinary industry has been challenged to prepare their members to work more closely with and understand the emergency services techniques and in particular the Incident Command System.
There will be demonstrations from Hampshire’s dedicated animal rescue advisors of bespoke animal rescue equipment for both training and incidents and techniques for lifting large animals as well as discussion on animal handling.
