Buckingham Palace May 2007: The launch of the Emergency Services Protocol document at Buckingham Palace in the presence of HRH Princess Royal. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Animal Rescue specialists contributed significantly to this document which highlights the need for education and training in animal rescue techniques for emergency services and vets. Jim Green gave a speech to over 100 representatives from the equine industry and this, alongside the national conference hosted by Hampshire, was the catalyst for the tremendous progress that has been made in the last two years.

Inside Out with Chris Packham: The BBC highlighted animal rescue and rural safety in a programme filmed over two days in February 2007. Chris Packham joined a training session and the film crew had an opportunity to follow the team at a horse rescue in a swimming pool in North Hampshire.

Household Cavalry and Kings Troop: Following an incident in London involving one of their horses falling into a basement, vets and officers from the Household Cavalry and Kings Troop invited Hampshire's Animal Rescue specialists to travel to their London barracks for a visit and to carry out some training. Vets from these prestigious sections of the armed services have also been early participants in the rescue and emergency medicine course as they have huge public safety responsibilities in their working environment.

Alresford Young Farmers: Following a talk by Jim Green to Alresford Young Farmers about animal rescue and rural safety and subsequent rescue of a cow for one of their members the group raised money to equip Hampshire with a new improved medical suspension harness known as the 'Down a cow' harness. Donations such as this have enabled the team to develop rescue equipment which has improved the safety of rescuers but also improved the viability of animals during rescues.

Forestry Commission Open Days: The ongoing partnership between Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Forestry Commission has contributed significantly to the success of the team. The Forestry Commission support the rural safety and animal rescue provision by donating a vehicle for Jim Green's work, leasing a field to the team for training and allowing the use of the New Forest for training purposes. In return Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service give wildfire training and supply protective clothing to Forestry Commission workers as well as repairing hoses and other associated equipment. Joint initiatives have seen a tangible reduction in arson and home fire safety visits have improved safety in Forestry Commission tenant homes across the Forest.

Drive Safe Day: Multi agency Drive Safe days are supported each year by the animal rescue team at Brockenhurst College, Highlighting the dangers of careless driving when livestock are on the roads, a particular problem in the New Forest. Hampshire's Animal Rescue Team work closely with New Forest agisters throughout the year.

USA Training May 2005: All Hampshire's Animal Rescue specialists are trained to a level required by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency for responders in the United States. This joint training provided both sides with an opportunity to share ideas and techniques and the result is an internationally compatible approach to large animal rescue. US experts Tomas and Rebecca Gimenez were guest speakers at the National Animal Rescue Conference in the New Forest 2008.
