Contingency planning

Compliance with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, in particular developing and maintaining business continuity plans, plays a major part in Directorate activity, ensuring that we fulfil our obligations under the Act as a Category One Responder. Partnership working with other agencies secures our position as lead member of the Hampshire Local Resilience Forum (LRF).  The LRF works closely with the Regional Resilience Forum (RRF) organised by the Government Office South East (GOSE).

A Service Resilience Forum has been established to provide a source of information for all departments and teams within HFRS and a plan for reviewing and understanding issues and initiatives that may originate from national direction, the Regional Resilience Forum and the Local (Hampshire) Resilience Forum.

One of the aims of the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 is to improve the UK's ability to deal with the consequences of major disruptive incidents by improving planning at a local level. A continuing task for the contingency planning team is to ensure that HFRS fully meets the requirements of the Act.
