Seven members of Fire Control staff have completed their training course for Firelink. The course was run on the 4th and 5th November 2008, and now enables these members of staff to deliver training to the rest of the watches on the use of Firelink equipment.

Delays to FiReControl project
The national FiReControl project has been delayed due to technical IT problems. At present it is unclear how long the delay will last, but it will have an impact on all Fire and Rescue Services with the likely result that they will need to adjust their timescales. Once it has been established what the impact of this IT problem will be on Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Regional Control Centre, we will let you know. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service had anticipated some slippage on the FiReControl project and we will adjust our timelines when we receive the new dates. A lot of hard work has been taking place within our organisation in planning for the cutover to regional control and we wish to thank everyone for their ongoing commitment. FiReControl is the national project to establish a series of nine Regional Control Centres around the country, including a control room at Kite’s Croft in Fareham, to handle fire calls for the South East. If you have any questions or concerns then please contact the Firelink/FiReControl Team at Service Headquarters on email firelinkfirecontrol.team@hantsfire.gov.uk or by calling ext 7 59 2722.
HFRS have been granted a TEA2 licence by the Cabinet Office which permits operation of the Firelink TETRA terminals.
Matt Goodwin, the South East Regional Control Centre Director, is currently engaging with HFRS Control Staff and is planning visits for them to the new SE RCC in the near future.
