Strategic projects

Strategic projects include the work necessary to provide a smooth transition from the existing Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) Control Room to the Regional Control Centre (RCC) located at Kites Croft, near Fareham. This is being provided for the South East Region as part of a national project.

FiReControl/Firelink project

The FiReControl project is working to move from the existing system of 46 local control rooms in England into nine new networked Regional Control Centres (RCCs).

FireLink is a task group set up by the Communities and Local Government (CLG) to buy and implement a nationwide radio system for the fire and rescue service (FRS).

Incident Recording System

The Incident Recording System (IRS) project will modernise the existing system by

  • radically changing methods of data collection to meet new business needs;
  • replacing manual data input of paper records with a fully automated electronic data capture system;
  • and will also provide better data for the FRSs Integrated Risk Management Plans (IRMP) and Best Value Performance Indicators (BVPIs).

Winchester Fire Station

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service is in the process of developing and building a new fire station to serve the City of Winchester and strategically support the County of Hampshire.
