Edward Higgins - With regret, the death is announced of Edward (Ted) Higgins on 30 01 12 aged 79. Edward served on Blue Watch at Aldershot Fire Station as a sub officer until his retirement in August 1984. Edward also held the British Empire Medal. Edward leaves wife Maureen. Notification was received from Edward's son Andy on 30 01 12. The funeral will be held on 16 02 12 at St. Michaels Church, Aldershot at 1245 hours. Family and close friends will attend the cremation afterwards. Employees attending should not wear uniform. Alec Relf - With regret, the death is announced of Alec (Robey) Relf on 27 01 12 aged 87. Alec served at Overton Fire Station as a retained leading fireman until his retirement in January 1973. Alec leaves wife Margaret and sons Andrew and Stephen. Notification was received from Peter Cowmeadow on 31 01 12.

Cyril Fry - With regret, the death is announced of Cyril Fry on 25 01 12 aged 84. Cyril served with Middlesex Fire Brigade from 1949 until he transferred to Hampshire in 1962, serving at Aldershot and Basingstoke as a Firefighter, retiring in 1978. Notification was received from CM Bowen at Basingstoke Fire Station on 26 01 12. The funeral will be held on 06 02 12 at Basingstoke Crematorium at 1400 hours. Employees attending may wear uniform. Fred Arthur Ellis - With regret, the death is announced of Fred Arthur Ellis on 16 12 11 aged 68. Fred served at Hamble Fire Station as a retained firefighter until leaving in May 1993. Francies James Brewer - With regret, the death is announced of Francis James Brewer on 02 12 11, aged 79. Francis joined Portsmouth City Fire Brigade in December 1955 and left in May 1982 as Station Officer. Francis leaves children Stephen, Adele and Julia. Christopher Thompson - With regret, the death is announced of Christopher Thompson (Chris) on 17 09 11 aged 85. Chris served at Eastleigh and then headquarters as the Chief's driver until his retirement in September 1981. He leaves wife Olive and two daughters. Elliott Harding - With regret the death is announced of Elliott Harding on 21 08 11 aged 24. He served at Workshops as a technician until he left on 28 02 09. He leaves his mother, father, two sisters and three brothers. Notification was received from Elliott's father, Ian Harding on 24 08 11. The funeral will be held on Friday 16 09 11 at Wessex Vale Crematorium, Bubb Lane, West End, SO30 2HL at 1345 hours.

Charles Beebe - with regret, the death is announced of Charles Beebe (Charlie) on 12 08 11 aged 89. Charlie served at Woolston Fire Station as a firefighter until 1976 and then at Stores as an assistant storekeeper until his retirement in November 1986. Charlie leaves daughter Sally. Malcolm Patrick Whitehouse - with regret, the death is announced of Malcolm Patrick Whitehouse on 20 06 11, aged 73. Steve Cardy - With regret, the death is announced of Steve Cardy. Although Steve did not serve with HFRS, he served for 28 years with the MOD at Fleetlands, where he received a bravery award when his crew self mobilised to an explosion at a local business. Many personnel will have known Steve for his role in recent years as the FFC Shopkeeper, attending many HFRS events and open days to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity. His funeral will be held at Portchester Crematorium on Friday 24 06 11 at 1200 hours.
Terry Pattison - with regret, the death is announced of Terry Pattison on 12 06 11 aged 72 . Terry joined the Southampton City Fire Brigade in May 1963 and retired in July 1993 as Divisional Commander of C Division. Terry leaves wife Pauline. Cyril Henry Charles Reading - It is with regret that the death is announced of Cyril Henry Charles Reading on 04 09 10 aged 90. He served at Alton Fire Station until his retirement as a Sub Officer in 1981. He leaves a widow, Joan, daughter Janis, son Peter (who is retained at Cheshire fire and rescue service) and four grandchildren.The funeral service will be held on Monday 20 09 10 at St Lawrence's Church, Church Street, Alton at 1230 hours. Rex Stroud - It is with regret we announce the death of Rex Stroud on 31 08 10 aged 92. Les Doherty - It is with regret we announce the death of Les Doherty on 01 08 10, aged 62. Les served as a Station Officer at Andover, Gosport, Redbridge, Winchester and HQ Fire Safety until his retirement in January 1998. Les leaves a wife Christine and daughters Karen and Lynn. Graham Tickner - It is with regret we announce the death of Graham Tickner. Graham served as an Officer in Charge at Grayshott until leaving in March 1980. Trevor Evans (Taffy) - It is with regret we announce the death of Trevor Evans (Taffy) on 30 04 10, aged 87. Trevor served as a Station Officer at Gosport, Aldershot, Eastleigh and Lyndhurst until his retirement on 16 10 76. Trevor leaves a wife Frances and 6 children (including Steve who retired recently as watch manager of Totton). We received notification from Steve Evans on 01 05 10. There will be a thanksgiving ceremony at Romsey Abbey at 11:00 on Friday 14 05 10. This ceremony will be preceded by a private committal. The family will be pleased to see Trevor's friends and colleagues at Romsey Abbey and invite all to meet afterwards at the White Horse Hotel in Market Place, Romsey. Dress code is optional. Albert Barett - It is with regret we announce the death of Albert Barrett (Bruby), aged 74 after a short illness. Albert served as a Firefighter at Petersfield Fire Station for approximately 23 Years. Albert leaves a widow Sheila, son Adrian and grandchildren. His wife has said it would be very nice to see a representative from either Hampshire or Lincolnshire (FireFighters Charity or a station) as he was very proud of serving for the Fire Service. Ron Kellie - It is with regret we announce the death of Ron Kellie on 18 05 10, aged 83. Ron served as a Leading Firefighter at Alton until his retirement on 31 12 74. Cecil Miles - It is with regret we announce the death of Cecil Miles on 19 06 10 aged 86. Cecil served as a Firefighter at Alton, Aldershot and Farnborough until his retirement in 1976. John Black on 17 11 09, aged 64. John served as a Retained Firefighter at Hartley Wintney and Odiham Fire Stations as well as a full time officer in the Airport Fire Service. The Airport Fire Service group is BAA, which has seven airports throughout the UK. John was Chief Fire Officer of this organisation until his retirement in 2000. John leaves a widow, Debbie. The funeral is to be held on Friday 27 11 09 at Eastbourne Crematorium, Hide Hollow, Langley, Eastbourne, BN23 8AE at 1515 hours and afterwards at the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne Sea Front. Frank Griffin, aged 76, on 16 11 09 following a long illness. Frank served in the control rooms at North Hill House and The Castle, Winchester as a Sub Officer from 07 06 60 until 30 04 73. He leaves a widow Diana and sons Mark, Duncan and Trevor (a Firefighter at Winchester) and grandchildren. Notification was received from his son Trevor. Funeral details to follow. Arthur Tanner - With regret, the death is announced of Arthur Tanner QFSM, aged 85. Arthur was Chief Fire Officer of the Southampton Fire Brigade until April 1974 and who on amalgamation became the Deputy Chief Fire Officer of the newly formed Hampshire Fire Brigade until his retirement.
