Malicious code policy

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service shall establish a malicious code security policy and ensure that all users of HFRS systems adhere to that policy.
- HFRS shall deploy and maintain a malicious code security capability.
- HFRS shall ensure that anti-virus software is installed, updated and operating properly on all equipment owned by HFRS.
- HFRS shall ensure that all servers are checked daily for instances of malicious code or viruses.
- HFRS shall ensure that PDA’s (personal digital assistants), mobile phones and other wireless devices are protected from malicious code.
- HFRS shall ensure that all software, including internally-developed application software, is free from malicious code before installation onto any equipment.
- HFRS shall ensure that a record is maintained of all malicious code incidents.
- HFRS shall ensure that third parties also report any occurrences of malicious code.
Hampshire County Council
- All equipment owned by Hampshire County Council shall be protected by HCC’s own malicious code security capability.
- HCC shall maintain a malicious code security capability for Blackberry mobile devices.
- HCC shall scan in real time all e-mail attachments transmitted from both the Internet and Intranet for malicious code.
- HCC shall check all files and attachments from Web sites and instant messaging, including downloaded files, for malicious code.
