Introduction

This Information and Software Exchange Policies set out the requirements for the exchange of information and software between the IS Department of HFRS and external third parties.  The scope of this policy extends to all information regardless of whether it is stored electronically or in paper format.

Principles

The ICT Manager shall maintain operational standards for the secure operation of information assets.  Operational standards and procedures shall include appropriate operating, backup and incident response procedures, virus protection as well as the management of third party services.  

IS shall ensure that there are standards and procedures relating to the exchange of information assets between HFRS IT Department and external organisations.

Information Exchange Policy

Any classified information contained on media in transit shall be protected by appropriate controls.

Media shall only be sent in transit once approval has been sought from the information owner.

Software Exchange Policy

Software received from vendors shall be tested prior to being installed on the HFRS network.

Software shall be installed in line with the standard Change Control process.
