Group areas

Portsmouth

The Portsmouth group is on the south coast of England. It covers an area of approximately 20 square miles and has a population of over 200,000 people.
The Portsmouth group has two stations at Southsea and Cosham.
Portsmouth is made up of mainly built-up areas and the population increases at certain times of the year because of the high number of university students and tourists during the year.
The area contains some of the most socially deprived areas in the county, as well as a busy commercial port, a naval base with a facility to build ships and many historic buildings.
There is also a very busy railway system and several major roads.
We will continue to work with the ‘Safer Portsmouth Partnership’ and other agencies to reduce risk within the city.

This group is extremely small with only 2 wholetime stations. The map shows that the incidents occur throughout the whole Portsmouth group as it only covers urban areas.
