Group areas

The Fareham and Gosport group is on the south coast of Hampshire. It covers an area of 54 square miles and has a population of approximately 191,890 people.
The group's major risks include areas that are socially deprived and run down, the major roads (M27, A27, A32), heavy industry (such as construction sites and chemical plants), light industry (such as manufacturers of clothes, shoes, furniture and household items), military establishments, an airfield and large areas that have become more urban.
The growth of the commercial and service sector and the M27 has meant that industrial parks have developed, mainly around Fareham, Hedge End and Whiteley. As a result, this has increased the amount of traffic in the area.
We will work closely with the local authorities across the area to continue to reduce these risks, tackle issues such as arson and make life safer for our community.
