Group areas

The Basingstoke and Deane group is in North Hampshire. It covers an area of 218 square miles and has a population of approximately 163,060 people.
The group has both built-up and rural areas. 90% of the area is covered by farms, woodland and forest. Major road (M3, A33, A34, A339) and rail networks run through the area connecting Hampshire with rest of the country.
Our community risk profile shows that our main risk areas include families on low incomes and elderly people with high care needs, living in local-authority and housing-association properties. By identifying people and properties at risk we can work in these areas and provide a more effective and focused approach to reducing risk. Our prevention work will focus on these groups of people in order to make life safer in our communities.
