Technical Fire Safety

Four Technical Fire Safety Groups:

will be tasked with the aim of driving down the risk to premises and occupants. This work will be carried out with input from the other service functions.

Partnerships have been formed with external organisations including local authorities and the business community which will result in HFRS being able to concentrate its resources on inspecting and auditing premises and sharing information with the intention of reducing risk.

Operations & Community Fire Safety

10 Operations and Community Safety Groups will be provided with a Group Manager responsible for supplying resources to prevent fires, accidents and other emergencies working in partnership with local authority community safety teams.

All firefighters will engage in proactive work to educate people of all ages. We will carry out home safety checks, fitting smoke detectors in partnership with local authorities. Finally we will carry out educational programmes to promote awareness of fire in the home to prevent incidents of fire. We will continue to engage local communities, promoting safety initiatives, supporting national fire and road safety campaigns.

Our operational front line resources will maintain availability to intervene as directed to meet the new fire cover response standards of 8 minutes attendance 80% of the time. All Group Managers will work to improve those standards.

Operational & Community Safety Groups will be supported by staff at our service headquarters ensuring they have the staff, resources and financial support to prevent incidents and intervene if necessary in accordance with our Integrated Risk Management Plan.
